Job Description
Job Purpose
Ball & Young Ltd are looking for experienced shunter driver to assist with the transporting of finished goods across our multiple production sites in Corby. The ideal candidate must have a class 1 license and have some experience in operating a Terberg and have a minimum of 2 years experience driving a HGV.
Job Summary
As a shunter, you will be responsible for transporting materials between our 4 sites including raw materials & finished goods as well as moving trailers/vehicles on & off bays along with some warehouse/operational duties when required. This role requires strong communication skills and being able to prioritise key tasks in a timely manner. Being a safety-first organisation, you ll need to conduct daily yard checks and checks of the vehicles reporting any defects to the transport office. You ll also need to ensure all movements are loaded securely in line with DVSA regulations. Essential duties and responsibilities
Include the following:
- Double deck / single deck trailer movements of raw materials and finished goods between our sites to keep up with production / despatch demands
- Movements on / off loading bays for loading / unloading
- Local collections and deliveries of raw materials, finished goods and vehicles for maintenance bookings
- Organising the yard and conducting daily checks
- Undertaking daily pre & post inspections of your Terberg in line with DVSA requirements
- Performing basic repairs and maintenance and prompt defect reporting to ensure vehicle roadworthiness is upheld
- Safely securing vehicle loads before any movements
- Liaising with all departments and the transport office regarding ETA s and movement updates
- Complying with all vehicle compliance and health & safety engagement procedures
- Occasional warehouse duties/operational duties including loading, refuelling and cleaning when movements all up to date.
Job Details
This role will be an average of 45 hours per week on a three-week shift pattern, but flexibility is required to cover annual leave on any of the below shifts as and when needed.
Week 1 - 6am 3pm (Mon-Fri)
Week 2 - 1pm 10pm (Mon-Fri)
Week 3 - 10pm 7am (Sun-Thurs)

Key Requirements
