A leading building services contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Central London, based close to Blackfriars. This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical QS looking to take on a key commercial role within an established and growing business, working across a range of electrical projects in the commercial building services sector.

The Role

The successful Electrical Quantity Surveyor will take responsibility for the commercial management of electrical projects from pre-construction through to completion, working closely with project teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of electrical projects.
  • Preparing and reviewing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
  • Managing variations, change control and commercial risk.
  • Procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor accounts.
  • Monitoring project costs, budgets and forecasts.
  • Producing regular commercial reports and cost/value analysis.
  • Supporting project managers with commercial advice and contract administration.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered commercially in line with agreed budgets and targets.

About You

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical quantity surveying, ideally gained within the building services, M&E or electrical contracting sector. The client is open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, provided you can demonstrate strong commercial awareness and a solid understanding of electrical projects. You should have:

  • Previous experience working as an Electrical QS / Quantity Surveyor.
  • Strong understanding of electrical building services projects.
  • Experience with valuations, variations, procurement and final accounts.
  • Good commercial and contractual awareness.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Good IT and Microsoft Office skills.
