An exciting opportunity to build and lead a growing renewables division. We are working in partnership with an established and growing electrical contracting business based in Boston, Lincolnshire, to recruit an ambitious and experienced Renewables Lead / Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced renewable energy professional to take ownership of a developing division, play a key role in its growth and progress into a senior management position.
Our client is looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with commercial awareness and leadership ambition. This is much more than an installation role; it offers the opportunity to help shape, develop and ultimately manage a successful renewable energy department.
About the Company
Our client is an established, family-run electrical contractor operating across the commercial and residential sectors throughout the UK. With a strong reputation in modular construction, large-scale residential developments and high-end residential projects, the business is now expanding into the renewable energy sector. Their plans include developing a strong presence within commercial and agricultural solar installations, alongside a dedicated domestic installation team. This is an exciting stage in the company's development, and the successful candidate will play an instrumental role in establishing and growing this new division.
The Role
Initially, the position will involve a combination of hands-on technical delivery, project management and business development. You will take the lead in delivering renewable energy installations while establishing the systems, procedures and operational standards required to grow the department. Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the installation and commissioning of Solar PV systems.
- Overseeing battery storage installations and integration.
- Managing EV charging installations.
- Undertaking system design, technical assessments and installation planning.
- Managing installation documentation, certification and compliance.
- Developing and maintaining MCS accreditation requirements.
- Preparing and managing G98/G99 applications and DNO notifications.
- Managing technical paperwork, commissioning documentation and customer handover packs.
- Ensuring all installations comply with current industry regulations and standards.
- Developing installation procedures, pricing structures and operational processes.
- Establishing relationships with suppliers, manufacturers and customers.
- Identifying new commercial opportunities and helping drive business growth.
- Supporting the recruitment, development and management of an installation team as the division expands.
About You
We are looking for an experienced renewable energy professional with a strong practical background and the ambition to take the next step in their career. Ideally, you will have:
- Proven experience installing Solar PV and battery storage systems.
- Relevant Solar PV, battery storage and EV charging qualifications.
- Recognised electrical qualifications.
- Electrical Inspection and Testing qualifications (preferred).
- Experience with EV charging installations.
- A strong understanding of renewable energy system design and commissioning.
- Thorough knowledge of MCS requirements and accreditation processes.
- Experience with G98/G99 applications and DNO procedures.
- A good understanding of electrical certification, compliance and industry standards.
- The ability to manage projects from initial enquiry through to installation and final handover.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive, commercially minded approach with the ability to work independently.
- A full UK driving licence is essential, along with a willingness to travel nationwide to support projects.
The Opportunity
This is a genuine opportunity to become a key part of an ambitious company's future. The successful candidate will initially take responsibility for leading and developing the renewables offering, with a clear progression pathway into Renewables Manager. As the division grows, you will have the opportunity to take full responsibility for its day-to-day operation, including project delivery, team management, commercial performance and future business development. Our client is looking for someone who wants to build something substantial, rather than simply move into another installation position. If you are technically strong, commercially aware and have the ambition to develop and lead a successful renewables department, this could be an excellent next step in your career.
What's on Offer?
- £50,000–£60,000 annual salary, depending on experience.
- Opportunity to lead and develop a new renewables division.
- Clear progression into a Renewables Manager position.
- Significant responsibility and input into business decisions.
- Opportunity to recruit, develop and lead your own team.
- Performance-related rewards and additional benefits as the division grows.
- Long-term career prospects within an established and ambitious electrical contracting business.
