We are working with one of the largest financial services organisations across Asia, which has a strong and growing presence throughout Europe. The EMEA Regulatory Legal team is now looking for a lawyer, initially for a 12-month contract role, as a maternity cover for a senior lawyer who acts as the lead Investigations/Contentious Regulatory Counsel for matters across EMEA. Candidates MUST be available at short notice – immediately or under 4 weeks, ideally.

This broad role encompasses internal investigations, whistleblowing, financial crime and litigation (if and when necessary). More specifically, the successful candidate will:

  • Manage/advise on contentious regulatory investigations, be they internal or involving regulators and financial crime agencies across EMEA;
  • Develop internal policies, pertaining to investigations and whistleblowing;
  • Investigate potential breaches of policies;
  • Deliver training, guidance and preparing template documentation relating to investigations, whistleblowing and financial crime.

We are looking for:

  • A common-law qualified lawyer, ideally with a minimum of 7 yrs. PQE;
  • Experience in self-reporting and voluntary disclosures to regulators and financial crime agencies;
  • Financial crime and risk advisory experience, encompassing some/all of: AML, bribery and sanctions.

This is a fairly rare opportunity for a lawyer who does not wish to be pigeon-holed and can form strong relationships with key stakeholder teams (e.g. compliance and audit) and across all levels of the organisation, both in the UK and internationally. The successful candidates will receive a competitive rate of daily pay and enjoy a generous and flexible hybrid working policy and a healthy work-life balance.
