I’m working with a well-regarded organisation that is looking to appoint a Senior Commercial / Civil Litigation Solicitor on a 12-month fixed-term contract, starting as soon as possible. This is a genuinely interesting opportunity within a friendly, supportive in-house legal team, offering a highly varied and engaging workload.
The role covers a broad mix of commercial disputes, civil litigation and compliance matters, with exposure to a wide range of operational and advisory issues across the business. No two days are the same, and the role offers real autonomy and responsibility.
This is a particularly strong opportunity for a private practice litigator looking to make the move in-house — a transition that can often be challenging given the limited number of in-house litigation-focused roles. The breadth of work and level of responsibility make this an excellent platform for lawyers keen to broaden their experience in an in-house environment.
The position will suit a lawyer who is comfortable working independently, advising a wide range of internal stakeholders, and supervising paralegal members of the team. You will need a commercial, pragmatic mindset, combined with excellent technical knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and strong litigation experience.
Key requirements:- Qualified solicitor with strong commercial and civil litigation experience
- Excellent, practical knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules
- Ability to work autonomously and manage a varied caseload
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members
- Confident stakeholder manager with a solutions-focused approach
The role is hybrid, with three days per week in the West Midlands office, and offers a competitive salary and benefits package. This is a rare and compelling in-house opportunity for an experienced litigator seeking variety, responsibility and exposure beyond a traditional private practice role.
