Our client is a highly regarded and very reputable banking institution headquartered in APAC. Having fostered an excellent reputation with the regulators and harnessed a consistent and stable flow of business, the London office has doubled in size over the past 5 years and continues to perform well. This bank is now looking for a specialist in the area of UK and EU data protection and privacy regulations to assist with the proposed expansion of the UK private banking business, as well as any other initiatives.
What will the role involve?
- To be the SME advising the head of the bank’s London branch on UK and EU GDPR
- Forging close relationships with the head and other key stakeholders in UK and Asia to identify and implement proportionate and risk-based solutions to identified issues
- Leading on the implementation of this major private banking expansions project.
What technical skill-sets are we looking for?
- Minimum 5 years of practical experience of working closely with specialist Legal / Compliance / Operations / Technology teams in delivering GDPR driven transformation projects (ideally with a significant cross-border element)
- Formal legal qualifications/experience desirable but not essential
- Detailed knowledge of good practice under UK and EU GDPR and privacy regulations and applicable ICO guidance.

- Strong interpersonal skills, to be able to build relationships across the bank and operate at a senior level.
This is a newly created position, initially being hired on a contract basis (9 months) offering a competitive day rate with a view to being made permanent for the right candidate. Our client offers a friendly and supportive team, as well as a sociable and accessible environment. They have a hybrid working policy with a minimum of 3 days in their City-based office.
