Job Description

Our client, a leader in the global asset management sector, is now looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join their London team. This asset manager is a long-standing, well established and stable organisation that has multi-asset and multi-strategy capabilities across both public and private markets.

What does the role involve?

  • Providing legal support and advice across the range of UK authorised funds (UCITS, NURS, LTAFs);
  • Contributing to product development and management;
  • Supporting global distribution efforts in the UK, Europe, and the Americas;
  • Advising on unauthorised UK AIFs;
  • Overseeing key regulatory developments;
  • Act as the primary liaison with internal and external legal counsel, regulators and service providers.

Additionally, you will mentor junior team members, lead strategic and regulatory projects, and manage legal risk in fund documentation, third-party agreements, and regulatory compliance.

What are we looking for?

  • An English law qualified solicitor with approximately 4 years’ PQE; commonwealth qualified solicitors may also be considered as long as you come with 2-3 years’ relevant experience of working in the UK market.
  • Coming from the regulated funds team of a reputable law firm, or from an in-house legal function of an investment management business.
  • A specialisation in UK authorised funds is essential (UK OEICs).

We are also looking for:

  • An ability to successfully contribute to major projects, negotiations, and relationships with third parties and external advisers.
  • Someone who can resolve challenges through collaboration and maintain a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • A lawyer who enjoys working in a team but can also take the lead and work independently.
