Our subsidiary, Arbuthnot Commercial Asset Based Lending (ACABL, based in Gatwick) is a specialist asset based lender, focused on delivering facilities to SME’s and lower mid-market corporates. They provide full asset based lending facilities plus cash flow loans in support of acquisition, refinancing, cash-out and turnaround scenarios. The business has been founded on strong established relationships with key business introducers, including the leading corporate advisory, accountancy firms and Private Equity houses. ACABL’s aim is to build long-term relationships with our clients and their advisors, supporting their objectives throughout the business and economic cycle.Our two-year programme is designed to provide you with the skills and experience to help you progress your career and contribute to ACABL’s and Arbuthnot Lathams continuing success. It will be delivered in on-the-job learning which aligns to your level 6 Apprenticeship course, overviews from other parts of the Bank, exposure to Senior Leaders and opportunities to work on projects

On successful completion of the programme, your training, experience and your Level 6 external qualification will set you with excellent career prospects.

The programme is designed for students completing A level or equivalent education in 2024 or 2025 looking for their first professional role.During the programme, you can expect to:

Role Description

This role will be based in Crawley but with frequent travel to LondonThe Asset Based Lending (ABL) Apprentice will primarily focus on providing proactive support to the ACABL Underwriting and Portfolio Teams.

The Apprentice will support the team with:Customer Due Diligence checksOrganisation of, and minute taking at, Internal Sightings & Credit Committee (ICC) MeetingsPortfolio administrative tasksKey ResponsibilitiesAttend daily ICC discussions, learn about ABL, and with experience and training, prepare detailed and accurate minutes reflecting the outcome.Support the Underwriting team in preparing high quality credit papers for proposed transactions for submission to ICC.Follow AML / CDD procedures, preparing Risk Assessments, Search Lists and Onboarding Checklists together with required level of due diligence to enable the successful onboarding of new clients.Prepare fresh searches and due diligence for all new client directors.Ensure policies & procedures are followed and maintain good records.Liaise with Arbuthnot Latham Credit and Compliance teams as required.Visit prospects as required. Prepare visit reports as necessary.Recognise and report compliance breaches, errors, and potential frauds.Always present a positive image of ACABL.Study for the Level 6 Financial Services Commercial Chartered Banker Institute 18-month programme.
