We enjoy weekly clinical meetings, quarterly half‑day closures, and are purposeful in managing GP workload to ensure sustainability, supported by a diverse and large team of support staff.

Main duties of the job:

• Sessions are on Tuesday and Friday.

Job responsibilities:

• To provide high‑quality, patient‑centred primary medical care to the registered practice population.
• The Salaried GP will diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions, promote health and wellbeing, and work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate healthcare in line with current clinical guidelines and professional standards.

Key responsibilities and clinical responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive consultations for patients presenting with a wide range of medical conditions.
• Diagnose, investigate, and manage acute and chronic illnesses.
• Prescribe medications safely and appropriately in accordance with current guidelines.
• Undertake home visits where appropriate.
• Assess and manage patients with urgent medical needs.
• Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and community services.
• Request, interpret, and act upon diagnostic investigations.
• Manage long‑term conditions through evidence‑based care.
• Provide preventative healthcare, including health promotion and screening.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical records using the practice’s clinical system.

Patient care:

• Deliver patient‑centred care with empathy, professionalism, and respect.
• Promote shared decision‑making and informed consent.
• Safeguard vulnerable adults and children in accordance with national and local policies.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in line with data protection legislation and professional standards.

Quality and clinical governance:

• Participate in clinical governance activities, including audits and quality improvement projects.
• Contribute to the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and enhanced services where applicable.
• Participate in significant event reviews and learning activities.
• Support safe prescribing and medicines optimisation.
• Comply with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and practice policies.

Team working:

• Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, physician associates, healthcare assistants, and administrative staff.
• Provide clinical advice and support to members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Attend regular practice meetings and educational sessions.
• Contribute to service development and continuous improvement.

Professional responsibilities:

• Maintain registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and comply with Good Medical Practice guidance.
• Participate in annual appraisal and professional revalidation.
• Maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
• Work within NHS policies, local commissioning arrangements, and professional standards.
• Maintain medical indemnity appropriate to the role.

Working conditions:

• Sessions as agreed within the employment contract.
• Participation in practice meetings and mandatory training.
• Compliance with infection prevention and control policies, health and safety regulations, and safeguarding procedures.

Person specification:

• Medical degree (MBBS, MBChB or equivalent) and full GMC registration with licence to practise.
• Inclusion on the GP Register and, where applicable, Royal College of General Practitioners membership (MRCGP) or equivalent.
• Experience working as a GP in UK primary care; ability to manage undifferentiated presentations.
• Experience using electronic clinical systems and managing chronic disease.
• Excellent communication and consultation skills; ability to work effectively with patients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) and to the principles of Good Medical Practice.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities; ability to prioritise workload effectively.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent documentation and record‑keeping skills.
• Professional, compassionate, patient‑focused, flexible, adaptable, honest, trustworthy, resilient, and committed to continuous learning.
