The primary role of the Staff Accountant is to support the Accounting Supervisor in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department. The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing tasks that must be completed in a timely manner. They maintain financial reports and records and perform general bookkeeping and billing activities such as account reconciliation and accounts payable. The Staff Accountant will assist in generating, reviewing, and analyzing financial data against budgets.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of regular and recurring accounting functions requiring professional competency.
- Prepare and enter transactions in accounts payable.
- Assist Accounting Supervisor with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Support external CPA with income tax filings.
- Prepare monthly state & local sales tax filings.
- Prepare financial reports & complete ad hoc projects as assigned.
- Assist with identifying, testing, and implementing new and efficient processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 2 years of accounting experience.
- Strong proficiency with MS Excel including pivot tables and lookups, and other applications.
- Prior experience with accounting ERP (NetSuite, Sage) desirable.
- Ability to be organized, detail-oriented, accurate and able to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Provide excellent customer service, particularly to vendors and employees.
- Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
- High degree of integrity, honesty, and securing confidential information.
