Power Transformer Engineer – Relocate to Saudi Arabia. This role is based in Saudi Arabia on a permanent, residential basis. Aramco involvement and global energy focus described below remains as context for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert in equipment failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis on all critical equipment failures.
  • Continuously review power transformers’ maintenance programs to ensure safe and reliable operation of HV assets.
  • Provide technical consultation to maintenance teams for identifying and reviewing critical spare parts.
  • Assess the condition of aging power transformers and advise on repairs and life-cycle considerations.
  • Troubleshoot failures, assess repairs, and evaluate if equipment meets service conditions.
  • Provide onsite technical support for critical power transformers and contribute to repair details.
  • Contribute engineering input for power transformer work packages to ensure Aramco standards and material specs are followed.
  • Represent the organization in industry groups and stay familiar with international electrical codes and standards.
  • Review and update company standards and remain aligned with international standards.
  • Demonstrate strong technical training, communication, and customer service skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university; advanced degrees and Professional Engineering certificates (e.g., chartership or PE) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years in Power Transformer operation and maintenance, with demonstrated experience related to transformer design.
  • Significant experience as a transformer specialist, including contributions at international conferences or employment with leading transformer manufacturers.
  • Deep technical knowledge of transformer construction and design for distribution and transmission types, including diagnostic testing and aging characteristics.
  • Familiarity with Factory Acceptance Tests and compliance with manufacturing standards such as IEC.
  • Participation in relevant CIGRE Working Groups.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage changing priorities, and proactively seek improvements in safety, results, and profitability.
