Saudi Aramco is looking for a Minerals Exploration & Mining Technical Advisor to work as part of the technical team within the Aramco Minerals organization under the Upstream Business Line. In this critical role, you will advise the team on identifying and evaluating new mineral deposits that will drive future growth. You will design and implement comprehensive exploration programs, utilising advanced geological, geophysical, and geochemical methods to pinpoint high‑potential areas and prioritise targets based on economic viability. Conducting metallurgical testing and interpreting complex datasets will require a strong understanding of crustal evolution, regional structural geology, and basin modelling processes to guide exploration and exploitation strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive exploration and mining strategies and programs that align with company objectives and goals.
  • Identify high‑potential target areas through meticulous analysis of geological, geophysical, and geochemical data, utilising techniques such as remote sensing, airborne surveys, and ground‑based investigations.
  • Conduct metallurgical testing and analysis to determine ore characteristics, mineralogy, and extractability, informing decision‑making on optimal extraction methods.
  • Interpret geological data, including mapping, logging, and sampling results, to provide actionable insights on mining method selection, reserve estimation, and resource optimisation.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the Mineral System concept and how to use crustal evolution, regional structural geology, and basin modelling processes, enabling identification of different play concepts and application of this knowledge to guide exploration and exploitation strategies.
  • Advise on sampling processes for soil, rock, and core samples and prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on exploration findings.
  • Plan and execute drilling campaigns to gather data for exploration, infill, and extension purposes.
  • Utilise GIS and modelling software for data visualisation and analysis to support exploration and mining decisions.
  • Work closely with geologists, environmental scientists, and other engineers to achieve shared goals.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and informative reports and presentations summarising exploration findings, highlighting key discoveries, challenges, and recommendations for future work.
  • Develop and maintain accurate deposit models to inform mine planning, reserve estimation, and resource optimisation.
  • Implement and monitor QA/QC protocols to guarantee high‑quality data and minimise errors.
  • Utilise Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and 3D modelling software to visualise and analyse large datasets, identifying trends and patterns.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior team members.
  • Ensure all processing activities comply with environmental and safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the team.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of mineralogy, metallurgical principles, exploration techniques, and mineral deposit models.
  • Experience with sedimentary hosted mineralisation.
  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field. MSc qualification in geoscience or engineering is preferred.
  • Registered professional in an international accreditation institution (PGeo, RPGeo) is highly preferred.
  • 15 years of experience, with at least 5‑10 years in mineral exploration or a similar role.
  • Experience working in the field.
  • The ability to work effectively in multi‑disciplinary teams and with cross‑functional teams.
  • Demonstration of technical contribution in the mineral industry through reputable international publications, technology patents, and mentoring programmes for young engineers.
  • Proficient in geological mapping and modelling software, and exploration data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work in remote locations and adapt to challenging field conditions.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
