ARAMCO is one of the world's largest producers of hydrocarbon energy and chemicals, with among the lowest upstream carbon intensities of any major producer. With our significant investment in technology and infrastructure, we strive to maximize the value of the energy we produce for the world along with a commitment to enhance Aramco's value to society. Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with offices around the world, we combine market discipline with a generation's spanning view of the future, born of our nine decades experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom's vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility has driven us to deliver significant societal and economic benefits to not just the Kingdom, but also to a vast number of communities, economies, and countries that rely on the vital and reliable energy that we supply. We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.
We are seeking a Risk & Resource Geoscientist to join our Unconventional Resources Exploration and Characterization Department (URECD). URECD is responsible for identifying and evaluating Unconventional Resources across the Kingdom, leveraging integrated subsurface studies to challenge traditional perspectives and drive portfolio growth. We collaborate with asset teams to advance appraisal and field development plans, ensuring a comprehensive approach to exploring, characterizing, and developing these resources. As a Risk & Resource Geoscientist, you will lead risk and resource evaluations across all subsurface assets, working closely with exploration, appraisal, and development teams to ensure best approaches are applied to the integration of both geologic and engineering data for risk and resource estimates and provide independent technical evaluations of wells, fields, and technical studies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate petroleum systems and plays interpretation workflows and products.
- Interrogate completed technical evaluations of wells and fields, and associated technical studies.
- Evaluate seismic, log, and core data to characterize subsurface structures, facies, and fluid distributions.
- Evaluate drilling, completions, production, and diagnostics data to understand reservoir performance.
- Provide guidance to geoscientists to accurately define the subsurface using geological maps, cross-sections, and grids that incorporate seismic, sedimentological, petrophysical, and geomechanical data.
- Work collaboratively with professionals across all geoscience and engineering disciplines.
- Review pre-drill and post-drill well/field evaluations.
- Compile and present technical reports summarizing key technical risks and challenges.
- Mentor other geoscience professionals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Geosciences (Geology, Geophysics, or equivalent) from a recognized and approved program; an advanced degree is preferred.
- 10–15 years of experience in the Exploration and Production (E&P) industry, including a depth of experience in multiple unconventional plays including both source rock, and tight sand/carbonate plays.
- Experience in resource estimation and technical risk assessment for portfolio evaluation.
- Proficiency in two or more subsurface disciplines; seismic interpretation, QI, structural geology, stratigraphy, sedimentology, petrophysics, geomodelling, geochemistry, basin modeling, and geomechanics.
- Integrated work experience with reservoir engineering, drilling, completions, and production teams to monitor drilling/stimulation operations, evaluate production & diagnostics testing, execute field development, and commercial evaluation.
- Ability to work independently and make real-time decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software packages for seismic interpretation, geological modeling, data visualization and analytics, and resource assessment (Petrel, GeoX, etc.).
Working environment:
Our high-performing employees are drawn by the challenging and rewarding professional, technical and industrial opportunities we offer, and are remunerated accordingly. At Aramco, our people work on truly world-scale projects, supported by investment in capital and technology that is second to none. As a global energy company, we are faced with addressing some of the world's biggest technical, logistical and environmental challenges, and we invest heavily in talent development.
