Are you an experienced hospitality leader looking for your next challenge? We are seeking a passionate and driven General Manager to lead our busy catering operation at Great Western Hospital, overseeing a range of retail and dining services including coffee shops, a refectory, and a staff restaurant. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded manager who can deliver exceptional customer experiences, drive financial performance, and inspire teams to achieve outstanding results.
As General Manager, you will have full responsibility for the operational and financial success of the unit, ensuring high standards of service, compliance, and profitability are consistently achieved. We're looking for a people-focused leader with strong catering or hospitality management experience, proven P&L accountability, and the ability to identify growth opportunities while developing and motivating a high-performing team. In return, you'll join a dynamic business where your leadership can make a real difference, working 40 hours per week across 5 days from 7, with flexibility to support the needs of the operation.

Job Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of the operational and financial performance of the catering operation, ensuring all targets and KPIs are achieved
- Lead, motivate and develop a diverse team, creating a positive culture that delivers exceptional customer service standards
- Manage and control all aspects of the site's P&L, identifying opportunities to maximise revenue, profitability and growth
- Ensure effective stock control, waste management and production planning processes are in place to drive efficiency and reduce costs
- Maintain brand standards, pricing policies, menu specifications and merchandising plans across all catering outlets
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, customers and suppliers to support service excellence and commercial success
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, health & safety, and company policies, maintaining a safe and compliant workplace
- Identify and implement new initiatives, products and service improvements that enhance the customer experience and support business growth
Key Requirements:
- Proven management experience within the catering, hospitality, retail or food service industry
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, develop and retain high-performing teams
- Demonstrable experience managing budgets, P&L accounts and delivering commercial results
- Excellent operational management skills, with a focus on service excellence, compliance and continuous improvement
- Strong financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to identify opportunities to grow sales and profitability
- Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- Experience implementing and maintaining food safety, health & safety and hygiene standards
- Highly organised, results-driven and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
