Aramark UK is looking for a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our dynamic team at Uppingham School – one of the UK’s most prestigious independent schools, located in the picturesque market town of Uppingham, Rutland.
You’ll be working in one of our two central production kitchens, helping to deliver exceptional food to 15 boarding houses across the campus. This is a role where quality, creativity, and leadership matter – and where your development is just as important as the dishes you serve.

What you’ll be doing:
- Lead kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef
- Deliver high-quality meals across breakfast, lunch, and dinner services
- Oversee kitchen team performance, allocate tasks, and foster a positive working environment
- Maintain the highest food safety and hygiene standards, including allergen compliance
- Manage stock levels, assist with ordering, and reduce food waste
- Contribute to daily kitchen cleaning schedules and ensure compliance with hygiene procedures
- Support the training and development of kitchen team members
What we’re looking for:
- Full right to work in the UK and UK residency for the last 3 years (essential for DBS clearance)
- Able to pass enhanced security vetting and DBS checks
- A recognised culinary qualification or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role (Sous Chef or Senior CDP)
- A full UK driving licence is desirable due to the location
