Aramark UK is looking to hire an experienced and dedicated Training Manager to join the team at HMP Oakwood (Category C). This is a permanent, full-time opportunity reporting into our General Manager on site. The hours are 7.30am-4pm, Mon-Fri. You will oversee and manage all food and food safety training within the prison, working with both civilian and prisoner catering staff. The site has around 2,000 inmates and there would be circa 10-12 inmates assisting in the kitchen at one time. This role requires a full vetting check prior to starting.

A day in the life of a Training Manager:

  • Deputise for Kitchen Manager
  • Plan NVQ training in accordance with the programme
  • Complete practical demonstrations for NVQ candidates, coaching and mentoring
  • Interviewing new kitchen workers (prisoners) as required
  • Instruct prisoners in Health and Hygiene
  • Train prisoners and staff in the use of all kitchen equipment
  • Assist where necessary in food preparation
  • Organise daily wing checks and reports
  • Ensure all food storage areas, utensils and equipment are regularly cleaned in accordance with the cleaning schedule and meet with all the requirements of the Health and Safety and Food Safety legislation
  • Identify any further training needs for all staff and action as appropriate
  • Follow company or component policy in dealing with customer comments or complaints
  • Comply with Health & Safety Regulations, Fire policy and report hazards to management

You’ll be set up for success if you have:

  • Essential:
    • NVQ Level 2 Culinary or equivalent
    • Food hygiene certificate – Level 3
    • Health & Safety Level 2
    • Previous experience in a Food Production role within catering or retail
  • Desired:
    • TAQA or A1 Equivalent Assessing qualification
    • PTTLS or Equivalent Teaching Qualification
    • Level 2 Barista Skills or above
    • IOSH – Managing Safely
    • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
