Your Aramark journey starts here. Aramark UK is currently recruiting for a Chef Shift Lead to join our Defence sector. You will be responsible for managing a large kitchen and supervising a team of Chefs and Assistants, ensuring each shift runs smoothly. You will be reporting into the General Manager on site at Munster Barracks, Catterick Garrison. A day in the life of a Chef Shift Lead:

  • You will be responsible for managing a large kitchen or multiple kitchens with a team of Chefs and Assistants.
  • Ensure tasks are appropriately allocated so teams are fully utilised and food preparation activities are delivered using standard recipes and in line with Aramark brand standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring efficient execution and delivery of all food line products in line with the daily menu.
  • Carrying out stock checks and ensuring stock rotation is being carried out correctly.
  • Overall accountability for the performance of the Food Preparation team, including performance monitoring, record keeping, recruitment and development.
  • Lead the team to use best practice Food Production techniques using the Aramark systems and brand standards.
  • Complete weekly audits in all locations for both back of house and front of house to ensure the unit is delivering the required standards and GP% - act quickly to rectify any issues.
  • Determine the food offer from Aramark standard menu to ensure it meets customer demands and is profitable.
  • Handle customer complaints in a professional manner.
  • Ensure team meetings and daily briefings take place for all food items for every shift, necessary information and any critical updates in partnership with the General Manager.
  • Direct and coach team members to learn procedures and standards for all kitchen tasks, ensuring all training and development needs are met.
  • Ensure complete compliance with food safety and health and safety legislation.
  • Manage incidents, near misses and health & safety issues in line with company policies, ensuring all paperwork and checklists are complete and maintained.
  • Support other sites when required.

You’ll be set up for success if you have:

  • A real passion for all things food.
  • Relevant culinary qualification (NVQ level 3 or equivalent).
  • Food Hygiene certificate (Level 3) or willing to obtain through our e learning site.
  • Previous experience managing a team of Chefs and working in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Are customer focused, an excellent communicator and team player.
  • Able to prioritise and delegate, supporting your team members and leading them to success.
  • DBS checks required.
