Overview
Aramark UK are recruiting a Head Steward to join our team at Cambrai Lines, Munster Barracks, DL9 3PZ. You will be responsible for supervising the team in the provision of quality laundry, accommodation, mess-room, and janitorial services, always adhering to health and safety. Aramark UK provides world-class contract catering services to our clients across the UK, including Defence, Judicial, private industry and Education. To be eligible for this role, due to sector requirements: you must have been a UK resident for the past 3 years and have the legal right to work in the UK and be able to pass full security vetting and DBS checks.
Responsibilities
- Supervision of service within the mess operational business area.
- Accountability for effective supervision and performance of frontline colleagues within the mess, ensuring delivery of steward services to the required standard.
- Assist with function preparation as directed by the Mess Manager (e.g., silver cleaning, dining room layout, napkins).
- Completion of company paperwork.
- Reception duties and messing cash handling and till operation.
Qualifications / Requirements
- A DBS check will be required to complete the application process.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety and food safety requirements.
- Experience of working within the catering industry.
- Prior experience of managing direct reports.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is desirable.
What we offer
- This is a full-time position, 35 hours per week, with a shift pattern of 5 days over 7 (including weekends). Shifts range between 08:00 and 16:00; evenings may be required.
- Pay rate: £12.21/hour.
