Food Service Assistant – HMP Birmingham (B18 4AS)
Contract: Permanent, full‑time, 40 hours per week, mainly Monday to Friday with occasional weekends.
Shifts: 07:00 and 15:30 (30 minutes unpaid break). No evening shifts.
Pay rate: £12.30 per hour.
What you’ll be doing:
- Preparing basic food items and serving meals, snacks and beverages.
- Providing warm, efficient customer service to everyone who visits the dining area.
- Operating the till, handling cash and card payments, and completing financial records.
- Stocking, rotating stock, cleaning serving and dining areas.
- Supporting both front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house teams as required.
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
- Previous customer service and food service experience (ideally from running a café).
- Basic cooking experience for customers and Level 2 in Food Safety.
- Residency in the UK for the past 5 years.
- Legal right to work in the UK.
- Ability to pass full security vetting and DBS checks.
- A positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed.
