Contract: Permanent, full-time 40 hours per week, predominantly Monday to Friday with some occasional weekends to cover holidays
Shifts: 07:00 and 15:30 (with 30 minutes unpaid break); No evening shifts

Aramark UK is looking for a friendly and proactive Food Service Assistant to join our team at HMP Birmingham (B18 4AS). If you enjoy delivering great customer service, staying busy, and working in a role where every day feels rewarding, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. This is a chance to work in hospitality without sacrificing your work-life balance, with shifts between 07:00 and 15:30, your evenings are completely free.
Important: Due to the sector, you must have lived in the UK for the past 5 years, hold the legal right to work, and be able to pass full security vetting and DBS checks.
Responsibilities
- Preparing basic food items and serving meals, snacks, and beverages
- Providing warm, efficient customer service to everyone who visits the dining area
- Operating the till, handling cash and card payments, and completing financial records
- Stocking up, rotating stock, cleaning serving and dining areas
- Supporting both front-of-house and back-of-house teams where needed
Every day is varied, and you will work closely with our General Manager and a supportive on-site team. We are also proud to be a Forces Friendly employer and hold the ERS Gold Award for supporting the Armed Forces community.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous customer service and food service experience (ideally from running a café)
- Basic cooking experience for customers and Level 2 in Food Safety
- Residency in the UK for the past 5 years
- Legal right to work in the UK
- The ability to pass full security vetting and DBS checks
- A positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
