The deli, open for breakfast and lunch, will feature a counter piled with pastries (like za’atar croissants and halva brownies), dips, breads, wraps and salads, and a bar serving coffees and Syrian mint tea.

This room will also house a shop selling products, like jalapeno shatta, dates and chilli jam, from across the Med.

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our team.

The ideal candidate will help maintain a clean and organized kitchen, ensuring all kitchen equipment is properly cleaned, stored, and ready for use.

The Kitchen Porter plays a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff and helping to maintain a smooth operation throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning & Sanitizing

  • Clean kitchen surfaces, floors, walls, and equipment to maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans, ensuring they are returned to their proper places in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all kitchen waste is disposed of properly and the kitchen area is kept clean and clutter-free.

Assisting Kitchen Staff

  • Assist chefs and kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks (such as peeling vegetables or portioning ingredients).
  • Help with the delivery and storage of food items, ensuring all items are stored according to food safety standards.

Stock Management

  • Assist in receiving deliveries and checking stock, ensuring that items are correctly labeled and stored.
  • Keep track of kitchen supplies and notify the manager when stock levels are low.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper use of cleaning chemicals, safety equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure the kitchen adheres to food hygiene and safety standards at all times.

General Support

  • Ensure all equipment is in good working condition and notify the manager of any maintenance issues.
