As ARAG continues to invest in its digital platforms and cloud-first strategy, we are looking for an Infrastructure Technical Lead to own infrastructure design and technical direction across on-premise, hybrid and (in particular) our Azure-based cloud platforms. You will act as the design authority for infrastructure, setting and evolving architecture principles, standards and patterns across compute, storage, networking, identity and platform services. Working closely with Security and Architecture, you will ensure solutions are secure, resilient, scalable, cost-effective and aligned to ARAG's governance and regulatory obligations.
This role combines senior technical leadership with hands-on engineering oversight. You will provide technical authority, mentoring and peer review for complex or high-risk changes, while remaining close to the technology where needed. You will also have some line management responsibility, supporting engineers to deliver high-quality outcomes and continuously improving how we build and run infrastructure.
You will own our cloud infrastructure standards and reference patterns (landing zones, networking, identity, security and platform services), guiding teams towards automation and consistency through infrastructure as code and strong engineering practice. You will also ensure solutions are designed for operability (monitoring, backup and disaster recovery) so they transition cleanly into BAU.
At ARAG, people are at the heart of what we do and we are proud of a friendly, collaborative culture that encourages ownership. If you enjoy tackling complexity, making well-judged technical decisions, and enabling teams through clear standards and pragmatic leadership, you will have the opportunity to shape and evolve a modern cloud-first infrastructure platform in a purpose-led business.
About You
You are an experienced infrastructure professional with a strong Azure foundation and broad capability across cloud, hybrid and on-prem environments. Comfortable acting as a technical authority, you can make high-impact decisions and apply appropriate governance, while still staying close to the technology and getting firsthand when required.
- Broad enterprise infrastructure background (cloud, hybrid and on‐prem)
- Proven experience owning infrastructure architecture, design and standards.
- Recent experience operating at senior / third‐line level.
- Line management or formal technical leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of security, resilience, compliance and operational risk
- Ability to clearly document and communicate complex technical designs.
It is also great (but not essential) if you have:
- Experience working in regulated environments.
- Exposure to infrastructure as code, automation and modern platform practices
- Experience working with suppliers and managed services.
- A pragmatic approach to design that balances innovation with operational reality.
Most importantly, you lead through technical credibility, enjoy tackling complexity, and are motivated by the opportunity to shape and modernise infrastructure in an organisation that is actively investing in its digital future.
We offer a range of excellent benefits designed to support you and your lifestyle including:
- 26 days holiday + bank holidays + 'MyDay' (1 day to take at your discretion during the year)
- Contributory company pension scheme (up to 10% employer match)
- Opportunity to buy up to 5 days of annual leave every year
- Employee Reward and Incentive Scheme
- Progressive career pathway and development opportunities
- The option to join our Sports and Social club which organises discounted events such as theatre visits, sporting events and shopping trips
- Group Income Protection for all employees
- Group Legal Protection for all employees
- European Motor Assistance and Home Emergency Assistance
- Inclusion in our Health Cash plan
- Salary sacrifice benefits including Cycle scheme
- Access to our employee discounts hub offering exclusive discounts across thousands of retail partners, including discounted gym memberships at over 3,000 gyms across the UK
