These are exciting times at ARAG Law, as we are going through a period of positive business change and sustained growth across our Legal teams. As a result, we have a new Paralegal opportunity available in our high-performing Complex Litigation department.

About the role: As a Property Litigation Paralegal, you’ll have an opportunity to work on diverse and complex property disputes which will include small claims, fast track and multi-track claims and defences. You’ll enjoy early responsibility for all of the claim stages, from inception to conclusion, including drafting of case and witness statements, negotiation, mediation and trial, and we’ll offer all the support and training you will need to be successful. This is a role that offers real challenge, and you’ll enjoy an extremely varied caseload, including nuisance, trespass, property damage and negligence disputes (no two cases are ever the same!). It is a rewarding environment for if you are looking to work in a supportive, collaborative team, with the opportunity for continuous improvement and the ability to develop professionally.

Key responsibilities:

  • Dealing with a range of Property Litigation cases on behalf of a range of clients.
  • Resolving disputes in a commercial manner either via the Courts or via the use of mediation and other ADR techniques.
  • Being responsible for meeting an annual billing target.
  • Ensuring the work is delivered with a close eye to risk management and with a high level of client service excellence.

About you:

Due to the nature of the disputes, which can often be highly contentious in nature, we are looking for candidates with a background in client-facing roles and candidates that can demonstrate a high degree of resilience and empathy. You’ll ideally have previous experience as a Paralegal handling your own caseload within a property or general litigation environment. You’ll also have sound knowledge of SRA Standards & Regulations, and Data Protection legislation including GDPR. With your strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail, you’ll be comfortable working autonomously and able to learn independently. You’ll also be confident, personable and approachable with exceptional customer service focus.

Other key requirements include:

  • A comprehensive working knowledge of Property Law and Civil Procedure.
  • Experience of running a significant case load with appropriate supervision.
  • Willingness to own each customer interaction to ensure service excellence for customers.
  • Experience of case management and financial management and an understanding of the drivers behind a profitable and successful business.
  • A confident telephone manner with the ability to deal with clients who may be distressed and emotional due to the circumstances they find themselves in.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and work to timeframes and deadlines.

You will help to drive a high-performance culture which is busy and fast paced, and so you must be able to demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude in your work.

Additional information:

As a team we are passionate and enthusiastic about what we do. Our people are encouraged to think independently and to take ownership of their work. Only a 5-minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads station we have newly refurbished city centre offices, and we offer flexible working arrangements to suit your lifestyle.
