Role Overview

The Turbine Steam Path Mechanical Design Engineer will be in charge of the mechanical design of the components of the ARABELLE Nuclear Steam Turbine, specifically the integration of moving blades and standard diaphragms. The role involves coordinating studies to continuously improve the product, integrating feedback and results from cost reduction and performance improvement programs, and managing the portfolio of ARABELLE machines for 50 and 60 Hz nuclear power plants worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical calculation and design of steam path components, including moving blades and diaphragms.
  • Validate 3‑D models, drawings, and manufacturing plans produced by the design office.
  • Coordinate and lead technical studies within the design office.
  • Provide technical guidance to designers on complex or critical technologies.
  • Ensure design standards and mechanical documentation are updated and applied.
  • Deliver manufacturing documentation on time to support industrialization needs.
  • Industrialize products in conjunction with factories, especially those involved in the manufacture of blades and diaphragms.
  • Resolve technical issues and manufacturing non‑conformities to support contract execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement by integrating factory and site feedback, cost‑reduction initiatives, and performance programs.
  • Follow the PDQ/TDQ process for new product development and participate in design and gate reviews.
  • Support project teams during customer meetings and contribute to technical offers.
  • Deploy official design tools such as P3DM, CATIA V5, VPDM, and RPDM.
  • Store all technical documentation related to R&D execution in the official Information System database.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree with a strong mechanical background or equivalent.
  • Experience in a mechanical design office (energy, oil & gas, aeronautics, or special machinery).
  • Solid knowledge of mechanical design, calculations, and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of rotating machinery.
  • Proficiency with office tools (Excel, Word, MS Project).
  • Rigorous, autonomous, well‑organized, with strong deadline awareness.
  • Proactive mindset with sound judgment and decision‑making ability.
  • Results‑oriented and process‑driven.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Fluent in English and French.

Security Clearance

This work is undertaken with UK Defence customers and requires the candidate to hold or be able to obtain SC Level clearance as a UK passport holder. Applicants not cleared will not be accepted into the business until this clearance is provided. Dual passport holders are acceptable if the second country is approved by the vetting authority.
