We are currently recruiting for a Project Quality Engineer/Production Quality Engineer to join our team in Rugby. Reporting to the Quality Leader, you will be responsible for coordinating and compiling all project-specific quality requirements for shop floor manufacturing within the Steam and/or Generators manufacturing facility at Rugby. You will monitor metrics with the SC Quality Leader to drive manufacturing improvements and actively participate in developing and sustaining a quality culture.

This role involves working with UK Defence customers, requiring applicants to hold or be capable of obtaining SC Level clearance, be a British Citizen, and have worked or resided in the UK for at least 5 years. Applicants without clearance will not be considered until clearance is provided. Dual passport holders are acceptable if the second country is approved by the vetting authority.

Responsibilities of the role include:

• Leading, developing, and coaching factory staff on key competencies according to needs.
• Owning the development and implementation of internal NCR/RCA & CAPA plans.
• Implementing improvement actions from quality plans and customer feedback through continuous improvement.
• Ensuring full document control and compliance with project quality plans during project execution.
• Clearing material quality records against specifications in coordination with team members.
• Supporting the creation of quality record sheets for collecting CTQ data to meet project-specific quality plans.
• Verifying, collating, and processing completed quality records from the shop floor.
• Ensuring NCR paperwork is completed and quality records are properly stored.
• Supporting customer meetings as required.
• Supporting audits of the Q-framework, QMS, and ISO standards.
• Ensuring regulatory compliance and optimizing quality system procedures.
• Supporting proactive risk identification and mitigation to achieve project quality objectives.
• Collaborating with the CI team to drive sustainable process changes.
• Leading or supporting RCA & CAPA plans for external defects.
• Acting in accordance with Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety instructions and company rules.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Engineering bachelor\’s degree or practical experience in manufacturing, preferably for heavy mechanical components.
• Proven expertise in customer resolution, preventive tools, and ISO standards.
• Experience in a production or manufacturing environment is essential.
• Knowledge of welding processes is beneficial but not essential.
• Knowledge of APQP and PPAP processes is highly beneficial.
• Must be a team player willing to prioritize team goals.

Desired Characteristics:

• Six Sigma Green Belt certification is advantageous but not essential.
• Knowledge of RCA and CAPA tools and techniques.
• Familiarity with Lean and/or other continuous improvement methods.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels.
• Strong attention to detail and an organized approach.
• Proficient computer skills and IT literacy.
