Due to continued growth we are now recruiting for a number of Mechanical Engineers to join our growing team within Naval Engineering. These roles will support activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems, in particular Turbine Design, Valves and Test Rigs. You may also get involved in activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components. As a Mechanical Engineer you will execute the design, analysis or evaluation of equipment using engineering principles whilst adhering to business standards and practices as well as product and programme requirements. You will have a thorough and detailed understanding of the project requirements in particular the technical specifications and related standards. You will work within requirements defined by limitations of technical and design authority, communication and security.
As a Mechanical Engineer you will;
- Develop and design mechanical components and systems (Valves or Test Rigs)
- Design for manufacture and assembly ensuring the quality of design information supplied for manufacture
- Prepare technical drawings and specifications using CAD software.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, engineering and Sourcing as well as external sources to arrive at decisions
- Support prototyping, manufacturing, and assembly processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during design, testing, or production.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and production.
- Lead and Execute Design reviews with both internal and external stakeholders
This work is undertaken with UK Defence customers which will require any individual applying for the role to hold or be capable of getting SC Level clearance as a UK Passport holder. Applicants not cleared will not be accepted into the business until this clearance is provided. Dual passport holders are acceptable if the second country is approved by the vetting authority.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor\βs degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD software, CATIA V5 would be advantageous but not essential
- For one role experience and a strong knowledge of designing Valves- particularly experience in the sizing of components as these are custom components.
- For the 2nd role experience of designing Test rigs for rotating equipment would be highly advantageous
- Knowledge and appreciation of rotating equipment and rotordynamics is desirable
