Role Purpose: The Lifting Appointed Person travels to customer sites and supports our internal and external customers with the production of specialized outage lifting plans required for all major or complex lifting activities. This position requires a thorough knowledge and adherence to Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER). Location: This position requires daily work on customer sites, both within the UK and overseas.

Your role and impact within the team:

  • Review Outage Plans of work to be completed with the Outage Manager and Technical Field Advisors.
  • Production of Outage Specific Lifting Plans and RAMS, required for all major or complex lifting activities, to take place during each outage.
  • Production and management of site specific lay down plans including Logistics.
  • Ensure that the crane handover documentation is completed in a timely manner prior to site start up with any issues communicated to the client and Outage Manager.
  • Ensuring adequate and tested & certified tooling is available for lifting and rigging procedures in accordance to LOLER regulations, responsibility to ensure that rigging and lifting equipment delivered to site is of a safe standard and all test certification documentation is present and correct.
  • Validation and Inspection of Customer and OEM Lifting Equipment.
  • Ensure that all equipment used is checked for safe use regularly (i.e. before each lift, as in lifting plans).
  • Control and management of lifting and rigging procedures during outages.
  • Communication to in house & sub-contractor rigging Personnel, implementation of Putting People to Work Process, delivering toolbox talks to perform the disassembly and the re-assembly lifting according to the standard documentation.
  • Ensure that all Lifting and rigging activities are conducted and performed in a manner that is Safe, this will be adherence to the RAMS documentation and LOLER Regulations.
  • Safety of all staff during Lifting and Rigging operations in accordance to LOLER regulations.
  • Integration and Interfacing of working Parties, coordinate with other working parties best utilisation of shared resources.
  • Immediate reporting of any deviations from the defined targets/milestones to the Outage Manager & TFA’s.
  • Discuss impact of a change of work scope with the Outage Manager & TFA’s.
  • Reporting of completed rigging activities and issues including defective equipment.
  • Ensure subordinates and their team(s) fulfil their roles & responsibilities.
  • Be involved in a continual improvement programme with the training team.
  • In case of non-conformances and incidents issue or initiate a NCR respectively and incident report.
  • Actively perform Daily Safety Walk downs.
  • Accountable for the management of subordinates and their team(s).
  • Ensure the Completion of Staff Outage Assessments of Subordinates.
  • Adherence to Outage Schedule.
  • Keep change log up to date, creating multiple baselines as significant changes in workscope dictate.
  • Mentor and support Slingers, Riggers and Lift Supervisors.
  • Extensive travel to and from projects and various field assignments will be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Your profile:

  • Construction Plant Competence Scheme [CPCS] A61 Blue Card qualification or National Plant Operators Registration Scheme [NPORS] N401 Blue Card.
  • Level 5 Diploma in controlling Lift Operations – Planning Lifts – Qualification to be accompanied by an in date Blue Card.
  • Extensive experience as a Level 3 Rigger or City & Guilds or Level 4 Diploma Lifting Operations Supervisor CPCS A62 or NPORS N405.
  • Experience in a Field Services role of Steam Turbines, Gas Turbines, Generators and Balance of Plant.
  • Highly experienced, with strong knowledge and skills in all lifting operations.
  • Experience and training on Alstom, GE, Siemens or other OEM equipment is preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong individual, interpersonal, team and leadership skills.
  • Fluent in English language.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • MS Office Literacy.
