Arabelle Solutions (EDF Group) is a leading provider of nuclear turbine island technology and services. The company is seeking a Turbine Retrofit Concept Mechanical Design Engineer.

About the Role

Design nuclear steam turbine retrofit concepts during the tendering phase, applying industry-leading technologies to upgrade existing turbines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop 2D and 3D concept designs of steam turbine components using CATIA V5 within a PLM environment.
  • Perform design and adaptation studies for rotating and static turbine components (sizing, design, analysis).
  • Carry out mechanical design calculations using in-house tools and analytical methods.
  • Gather and analyse data from existing equipment to define retrofit solutions.
  • Prepare site measurement specifications, post-process measurement data and produce technical drawings, reports and presentations.
  • Generate component part lists and Bills of Materials.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver feasible concept retrofit solutions during the tender phase.
  • Participate in project meetings, internal engineering design reviews and interface technically with other disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Support project planning, budgeting, safety, quality and compliance activities.
  • Ensure on-time and on-budget design outputs, monitor nuclear safety items, comply with standards, regulations and product lifecycle requirements.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in mechanical design engineering.
  • Background in steam turbines, power & energy, oil & gas, aeronautics, or rotating equipment is desirable.
  • Proficient in CATIA V5 and CAD fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of standard mechanical components and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient with IT tools: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Strong mechanical design fundamentals and rigorous, process-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and self-motivation.
  • Professional English language proficiency (spoken & written).

Security Clearance & Eligibility

Applicant must hold or be able to obtain a valid UK Security Clearance. Must be a UK national or dual national from a MOD-approved ITAR country.
