About the Role

Generator Engineering Service Team – Lead position in Rugby

Reports to: Principle Engineer, Service Engineering Department, Service Engineering UK

Location: Newbold Road, Rugby, UK

Full‑Time Employment.

Responsibilities

  • Technical lead for designing tooling for manufacturing processes for generator products
  • Produce 3D modelling and 2D drawings for tooling and parts
  • Issue and communicate detailed manufacturing instructions for generator parts and assembly activity to key stakeholders
  • Lead implementation of new manufacturing processes
  • Define workscope and issue engineering instructions for emergent and rectification work
  • Create production orders containing technical drawings, quality plans and material specifications for part structures in the ERP system
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis and other methods to support problem resolution
  • Provide outage planning support, including creation of outage documentation on generator systems
  • Act as technical specialist and answer technical queries from the site team during ongoing outages, providing repair solutions
  • Consider EHS aspects in design and manufacturing
  • Understand project requirements and plan execution of work to deliver expertise at cost, on quality and on time
  • Champion a transparent and inclusive environment
  • Build good customer relationships, especially with local customers to understand future needs and expectations
  • Support Sales organization with technical input and participate in customer meetings to support new opportunities
  • Provide technical assurance and rigor for given tasks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a suitable technician qualification and experience
  • Experience in an engineering and manufacturing environment demonstrating successful delivery of engineering work
  • Ability to use and configure IT tools for managing technical tasks, in particular CAD
  • Fluent in English, both oral and in writing
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Broad understanding of manufacturing processes in a factory environment (desirable)
  • Broad knowledge of generators technology including operation, maintenance, and manufacturing (desirable)
  • Knowledge of GEC/Alstom Generator legacy fleet (desirable)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (desirable)
  • Collaborative, inclusive, supportive, and empowering management behaviours (desirable)
  • Strong customer‑service mindset (desirable)
  • Problem‑solving skills for complex technical issues (desirable)
