Nelson and Marlborough Satellite Campus Fixed Term (Dec 2026), Minimum 250 hours per year.

Support and teach Bachelor of Midwifery students in the Nelson/Marlborough satellite. Be involved in the Ara midwifery programme which uses an innovative blended delivery model. Contribute to culturally responsive education grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Part time, fixed term role ideal for practicing registered midwives. Bring your midwifery expertise into education—support and inspire future midwives at our Nelson/Marlborough satellite campus.

As an Academic Staff Member – Midwifery, you will use your experience as a registered midwife to support and teach midwifery students based in the Nelson/Marlborough satellite. In this role, you will:

  • Facilitate hui ākonga, guide student learning, and provide supervision, assessment, and pastoral care for students in the midwifery programme.
  • Deliver engaging teaching sessions.
  • Create meaningful practice opportunities for students to develop their skills.
  • Build strong connections with practitioners in clinical practice areas to enhance student learning.

Requirements:

  • Registered Midwife with current NZ Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Membership of NZ College of Midwives.
  • Extensive midwifery clinical background.
  • Understanding of cultural safety.
  • Good understanding of the socio-political context of midwifery in NZ.
  • A minimum of five years post registration clinical experience as a registered Midwife.
  • Recent involvement in the provision of continuity of care as a LMC midwife and/or core midwife.
  • Clinical and educational qualifications and skills that support teaching of midwifery.
  • Digital literacy including competence using a computer (including Microsoft office products).
