This is a hands-on teaching role suited to someone who can hit the ground running, drawing on real-world experience in the social services, health and wellbeing or community support sectors. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and contribute to Health & Wellbeing education. The role is underpinned by principles of bicultural practice, social justice, ethical and professional practice to empower others to promote personal and social change.
You will have the ability to apply practical insights from sector experience to teaching and learner support. This role will suit someone who has experience working in the wider Health & Wellbeing sector; Social & Community Services sector, Mental Health & Addiction, Education & Support or Human Services. Ara is looking for someone who is committed to changing lives through opportunities brought about by education.
While prior teaching experience is desirable, itās not essential. A learner-focused approach to supporting students to achieve desired aspirations and outcomes is essential. You will demonstrate a practical commitment to Tiriti o Waitangi and building knowledge of te ao MÄori and be confident in applying kaupapa MÄori principles and matauranga MÄori to learning and development in the programme. Some regional travel may be required.

- Minimum qualification - a Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Proven experience in one or more of the following: Social & Community Services (social work, community support, youth work, peer support), Health & Wellbeing (mental health, addiction support), Education & Support (teaching, support work), or related Human Services fields.
- Current industry/discipline knowledge
- Vision, innovation and a commitment to facilitating own and othersā learning.
- Capable of supporting students to achieve their learning outcomes.
- The ability to develop and implement flexible teaching and learning methods, including the use of learning technologies.
- Digital literacy including ā competence using a computer (including Microsoft office products)
- Effective communication with a diverse range of others, at all levels within and outside the organisation
- Works collaboratively and co-operatively, and contributes to teams.
- Recognises diversity positively (cultural, socioeconomic, age, ability)
- Sound professional judgement and integrity
- Friendly and approachable manner.
