About the Role

We’re looking for a warm, student-focused General Practitioner to join our friendly Health Centre team within a vibrant tertiary education environment. This is a part-time 22.5 hours per week contractor role, with flexibility in how these hours are worked, with a preference for three full days of 7.5 hours. As a General Practitioner, you’ll work alongside an experienced and supportive multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality primary health care to our diverse student community. Your work will play a key part in supporting student wellbeing, engagement, and success.

You will work collaboratively with the Health Centre team to provide expert General Practitioner primary care services to Ara students and contribute positively to their student experience, engagement and success. This includes supporting the Health Centre’s standing orders and working closely with the nursing team to provide clinical guidance, assistance and support as well as actively building and maintaining professional relationships with essential external services and government agencies. You will also participate in evaluations and planning of services to ensure services are aligned and sufficiently reaching the full spectrum of our learner community.

Skills and Experience

You’re a qualified and compassionate General Practitioner who enjoys working in a team and values a holistic, inclusive approach to care. You’ll bring:

  • Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • At least two years’ post-qualification general hospital experience
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development
  • Cultural awareness and a genuine commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Confidence working independently, with strong communication and IT skills
