Responsibilities

We’re looking for a friendly, learner‑focused Mathematics educator to join Ara’s Foundation and Pathways team. You’ll teach key engineering maths papers across Diploma and Degree‑level programmes in a rewarding role, ideal for someone who enjoys making maths accessible and supporting diverse learners in a tertiary environment.

Role Details

This is a part time, fixed term role of approximately 8 hours per week, worked during teaching terms only, fixed term until December 2026.

Qualifications
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in mathematics, engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience teaching mathematics to adult or tertiary learners.
  • A solid understanding of core engineering mathematics, including algebra, calculus, trigonometry, complex numbers, matrices, and applied problem‑solving.
  • The flexibility and capability to teach across both DE4102 and MG5004 course requirements.
  • Experience using a variety of teaching approaches and digital tools, including Octave.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting diverse learners and creating inclusive, welcoming learning environments.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative teaching team.
  • Alignment with Ara values and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
