We are looking for an experienced Electrical Technician to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a varied and rewarding role supporting teaching and learning across our Woolston Campus. You will work with learners of all ages and stages, from secondary school students exploring trade, to full-time students, apprentices, and qualified tradespeople who are upskilling. You will be part of a collaborative team that takes pride in providing safe, well-equipped workshops that support great learning outcomes.

What you will be doing:

  • Repairing and maintaining equipment and workshops for teaching and project work
  • Carrying out scheduled maintenance on plant and equipment
  • Ensuring workshops are stocked, organised and ready for use
  • Supporting tutors by responding to maintenance and repair needs in a timely way
  • Upholding health and safety standards at all times
  • Working closely with colleagues to provide efficient and cost-effective technical support
  • Scope, price & manage electrical project work as required

Skills and Experience:

  • Solid trade experience and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team
  • Experience in an educational environment is not essential but would be an advantage
  • Hands-on practical experience, strong organisational skills, and a sound understanding of health and safety in an operational setting
  • New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Trade (Level 4) or equivalent EWRB recognised qualification
  • Current registration and practising licence with the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) as an Electrician
  • Experience in repairs and maintenance of hand tools and testing equipment
  • Familiarity with stock control and ordering
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work
  • Sound understanding of health and safety
  • Physically fit – due to regular lifting and handling of materials
  • A collaborative, practical and solutions-focused approach
