A leading utilities contractor is looking for a Commercial Manager to lead a small commercial team in Birmingham. The main objective of the role is to deliver the initial pre-construction activities and subsequent day-to-day commercial management requirements of a major national power infrastructure upgrade project.
Key duties will include:
- Building and managing a small team of Managing Quantity Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors.
- Delivering pre-contract activity across NEC4 ECC for pricing framework projects.
- Managing the cost recovery of pre-contract works.
- Helping set up all processes and systems for a major utilities framework.
- Regular interfacing with the client and senior internal stakeholders.
- Preparing reports and claims to agreed timescales.
- Overseeing the production of monthly project financial and forecast to complete reports.

Responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of power infrastructure upgrade works nationally under NEC4 forms of contract. Projects range from the construction or maintenance of substations, to the upgrade, rerouting, or new construction of overhead line networks. Leading a small commercial team, providing them with mentorship and driving their performance whilst working collaboratively with other delivery partners. You will be interfacing upstream to the client and senior stakeholders internally, as well as downstream to operational teams day-to-day, driving and reporting on contract performance.
