We are a friendly, growing accountancy practice based in Adderbury, working with a varied portfolio of SME and personal tax clients across Oxfordshire and beyond. Due to continued growth, we’re looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our small friendly team to assist and support our clients. The role provides the opportunity to work closely with clients and colleagues in a supportive, professional environment.
Responsibilities of Bookkeeper
- Working on a portfolio of client accounts
- Day to day bookkeeping for multiple clients including - Sales ledger processing, purchase ledger processing including supplier statement reconciliation.
- Reconcile, match and process business credit card statements
- Process monthly journals such as payroll, depreciation, accruals and prepayments
- Undertake bank reconciliations
- Preparation of VAT calculations and VAT returns
- Produce monthly management accounts up to trial balance
- Maintenance of fixed asset registers
- Supporting clients in maintaining their records for Making Tax Digital and submitting the returns to HMRC on the client’s behalf
- Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries
The Candidate for Bookkeeper
- Proven bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice or multi-client environment.
- Strong knowledge of cloud accounting software (including at a minimum Xero, QuickBooks, Dext)
- Confident handling VAT returns
- Organised, accurate and able to manage multiple deadlines
- Friendly, professional and comfortable dealing directly with clients
What’s on offer
- £17–£18 per hour
- Minimum 20-25 hours a week, this could increase as Making Tax Digital work and client base grows
- Office based working in Adderbury. Some remote working may be considered, but this is predominately an office-based role.
