You'll play a key role in driving production performance, developing your team and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and operational excellence.
The Role
As Production Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of production operatives, ensuring production targets, quality standards and customer requirements are consistently achieved. You will be a hands-on leader who motivates their team while driving continuous improvement across the production area.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and develop a team of production operatives to achieve operational targets.
- Ensure production schedules are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.
- Conduct effective shift handovers, communicating key production and operational information.
- Monitor labour requirements and optimise staffing levels across the shift.
- Promote a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality and efficiency.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Planning and other support departments to resolve production issues.
- Monitor production data, KPIs and performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
- Ensure production documentation is completed accurately and maintained to company standards.
- Maintain high levels of Health & Safety compliance across the production area.
- Ensure all team members are trained, competent and working to agreed procedures.
- Support absence management, return-to-work processes and general people management activities.
- Provide leadership cover for the Shift Manager when required.
About You
We're looking for an experienced production leader with a proactive approach and a passion for developing people and improving manufacturing performance. Ideally you'll have:
- Previous experience leading teams within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Experience managing KPIs and production performance.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to shift working.
Desirable
- ILM Level 3 in Management, IOSH or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
- Experience within automotive, plastics, injection moulding or other high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques such as 5S, Kaizen and SMED.
- First Aid or Fire Warden training would be advantageous.
