Manufacturing Team Leader .
This position is specifically suited to someone with experience leading teams within a high-volume manufacturing environment . We are particularly interested in candidates from backgrounds such as automotive manufacturing, plastics, injection moulding, engineering-led manufacturing or similar fast-paced industrial environments .

The Role
As Manufacturing Team Leader, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and performance of a team of manufacturing operatives.
This is a hands‑on manufacturing leadership role, with responsibility for ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
You will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Planning and other operational departments to resolve manufacturing issues, improve performance and drive continuous improvement across your area.
- Lead, motivate and develop a team of manufacturing and production operatives.
- Deliver daily manufacturing plans and production schedules safely, efficiently and on time.
- Monitor manufacturing output, productivity, quality, downtime and other key operational KPIs.
- Conduct effective shift handovers and communicate key manufacturing and operational information.
- Manage labour requirements and ensure appropriate staffing levels across the shift.
- Drive improvements in manufacturing productivity, quality, efficiency and waste reduction.
- Promote Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles across the production area.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality and Planning teams to resolve manufacturing and production issues.
- Identify causes of production losses, downtime and performance issues and support corrective actions.
- Ensure manufacturing documentation and production records are completed accurately.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety throughout the manufacturing area.
- Ensure employees are appropriately trained, competent and working to agreed operating procedures.
- Support absence management, return-to-work processes and other people management activities.
- Build a positive, accountable and high-performing manufacturing team.
- Provide leadership cover for the Shift Manager when required.
About You
For this role, we are looking for candidates with previous team leadership or supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment .
You should ideally have
- Previous experience as a
Manufacturing Team Leader, Production Team Leader, Manufacturing Supervisor, Production Supervisor, Shift Team Leader or similar .
- Proven experience leading production teams within a high-volume manufacturing environment .
- A strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production targets and shop-floor performance.
- Experience managing production KPIs such as output, quality, downtime, labour efficiency and productivity.
- Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills.
- A practical, hands‑on approach to manufacturing problem solving.
- Experience working alongside Engineering, Quality and other manufacturing support functions.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- The ability to prioritise effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Flexibility to work a rotating morning, afternoon and night shift pattern.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within any of the following would be particularly advantageous:
- Automotive manufacturing
- Plastics manufacturing
- Injection moulding
- Engineering or technical manufacturing
- High-volume or repetitive manufacturing
- Lean Manufacturing environments
Additional desirable qualifications or knowledge include
- ILM Level 3 in Management
- IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification
- Lean Manufacturing techniques including
- 5S, Kaizen and SMED
- First Aid or Fire Warden training
