Aqumen Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of an established UK manufacturing business for an experienced

Machine Relief Inspector to join its night shift operation in Mirfield.

This is a hands‑on production and quality role where you will be responsible for inspecting manufactured products, maintaining quality standards and supporting the smooth operation of production machinery.

The Role

As a Machine Relief Inspector, you will ensure products are manufactured to the correct customer specification while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and productivity.

Your duties will include

  • Carrying out regular quality inspections throughout production.
  • Checking products against customer specifications and production orders.
  • Completing and signing off quality inspection paperwork.
  • Opening and closing production orders correctly.
  • Covering the Inspector during breaks and as required.
  • Operating and checking production equipment safely.
  • Checking settings on guillotines, pad stackers, band knives and bagging machinery.
  • Following safe procedures when operating the band knife and changing blades.
  • Ensuring finished products are correctly labelled and barcoded.
  • Recording quality test results accurately.
  • Recording production stoppages and downtime using the shop‑floor computer system.
  • Identifying and reporting mechanical or quality issues.
  • Working with Shift Managers, Machine Foremen and Maintenance teams to resolve production problems.
  • Removing production waste and ensuring waste equipment remains operational.
  • Replacing packaging materials such as tubes and bags when required. Supporting continuous improvement and general production duties.
  • Keeping your work area clean, safe and organised.
  • What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate will ideally have

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment .
  • Experience carrying out quality checks or inspections .
  • Good mechanical awareness.
  • Experience working with computerised production equipment or machinery.
  • Good problem‑solving skills.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Basic maths skills.
  • The ability to accurately complete production and quality paperwork.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
  • Good timekeeping, attendance and reliability.
  • The ability to work safely and follow procedures.
  • A good level of physical fitness for a manufacturing environment.

Experience working with carding machines, lappers or similar manufacturing machinery would be advantageous.
