Please note this role will involve extensive travel and long periods of time away The Role We are looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join our client on a permanent basis, responsible for the programming, commissioning and technical support of control panels and automation systems.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing position involving regular travel to customer sites across the UK and overseas.
You will be responsible for commissioning control panels, troubleshooting systems and providing technical support to ensure projects are delivered successfully.
The successful candidate will be technically capable, practical and confident working independently.
Just as importantly, you will need to be calm under pressure and resilient when dealing with demanding customers and challenging commissioning environments.
Key Responsibilities Programme and configure PLC and HMI control systems.
Commission control panels and automation systems on customer sites.
Carry out testing, fault-finding and troubleshooting.
Diagnose and resolve software and control system issues.
Provide technical support to customers during and after commissioning.
Work closely with the engineering and technical teams to deliver projects.
Travel regularly to customer sites throughout the UK and overseas.
Communicate directly with customers throughout the commissioning process.
Complete commissioning documentation and provide technical feedback.
Support the business with ongoing technical and engineering requirements.
Required Experience & Skills The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in industrial automation and control systems, including: Siemens PLCs Allen-Bradley PLCs COVI/CONVIO PLC systems Siemens LOGO!
HMI/control systems PLC programming HMI programming and configuration Control panel commissioning Electrical/control system fault-finding On-site commissioning experience The Person We are looking for someone who is: Technically strong and confident in PLC programming and commissioning.
Practical and hands-on in their approach.
Comfortable working independently on customer sites.
Confident dealing directly with customers.
Calm under pressure and able to remain focused when problems arise.
A strong problem solver with a "get it working" mentality.
Flexible and willing to travel, including overseas.
Professional and able to represent the company positively in front of customers.
Driving Licence A full UK driving licence is required.
Working Hours & Travel The standard working week is
40 hours .
The role will involve significant on-site commissioning and travel, including UK-wide and overseas projects.
Flexibility around working hours and time away from home will therefore be required depending on project demands.
