About the Company
A well-established and growing organisation within the structural steelwork sector is seeking an experienced Tekla Draftsman to join its in-house design team. With decades of industry experience across design, fabrication, and installation, the company has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, complex projects. Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, there is now an opportunity for a skilled and motivated individual to contribute to a collaborative and detail-focused environment.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and detailing of structural steelwork projects, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and high standards throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Produce detailed 3D models using Tekla Structures for structural steelwork projects
- Create accurate fabrication drawings and general arrangement (GA) drawings
- Generate reports and NC data directly from 3D models
- Model and detail both primary and secondary steel components
- Collaborate with internal design teams to ensure project accuracy and efficiency
- Attend design meetings and contribute to project discussions
- Carry out site visits and take site measurements where required
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, architects, and third parties
- Work on design and build projects from concept through to completion
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards
Key Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role
- Strong working knowledge of Tekla Structures and AutoCAD
- Proven experience in modelling and detailing structural steelwork
- Ability to work effectively within a close-knit team environment
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience working on design and build projects
- Ability to manage workload across multiple projects
