The Opportunity

Aqumen Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced, hands‑on Production Supervisor to join an established manufacturing business based in Lincolnshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who enjoys being involved in day‑to‑day production operations, leading a small team and ensuring manufacturing targets are consistently achieved.

The successful candidate will supervise a team of approximately 6 production operatives, taking responsibility for maintaining production output, ensuring machinery operates efficiently and driving high standards of quality, safety and performance.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in plastics manufacturing, food production, pharmaceuticals or other fast-paced manufacturing environments.

Working Hours

The role operates on a rotating three-shift pattern:

  1. Morning Shift: 6:00am – 2:00pm
  2. Afternoon Shift: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
  3. Night Shift: 10:00pm – 6:00am

Salary: £30,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities

  1. Supervise, motivate and support a team of approximately 6 production operatives.
  2. Ensure daily and weekly production targets are consistently achieved.
  3. Take a hands‑on approach to production, supporting operators and assisting with machinery when required.
  4. Monitor machine performance, ensuring equipment is running efficiently and downtime is kept to a minimum.
  5. Identify production issues and work proactively to resolve problems quickly.
  6. Coordinate workloads, allocate tasks and ensure appropriate staffing levels across production lines.
  7. Ensure products are manufactured to the required quality standards and specifications.
  8. Work closely with maintenance teams to report faults and minimise disruption to production.
  9. Monitor production output, efficiency, waste and overall team performance.
  10. Ensure all health, safety, hygiene and operational procedures are followed.
  11. Provide effective shift handovers, communicating production performance, outstanding issues and priorities.
  12. Support the training and development of production operatives.
  13. Promote continuous improvement and identify opportunities to improve productivity and operational efficiency.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

  1. Previous experience in a production supervisory, team leader or senior operator role within manufacturing.
  2. A strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production machinery.
  3. Experience working towards production targets and KPIs.
  4. A practical, hands‑on approach with the confidence to support shop‑floor operations.
  5. Good problem‑solving skills and the ability to react quickly to production challenges.
  6. Strong communication and leadership skills.
  7. Willingness to work a rotating three-shift pattern.

Desirable:

  1. Experience within plastics, injection moulding, extrusion, food manufacturing or pharmaceutical production.
  2. Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  3. Experience identifying basic machinery faults and working alongside maintenance teams.
  4. Previous responsibility for small production teams.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who leads from the front rather than simply supervising from an office.

You will be comfortable working alongside your team, keeping machines running, resolving day‑to‑day production challenges and ensuring that targets are achieved without compromising safety or quality.

This position could also suit an experienced Production Team Leader, Shift Leader or Senior Machine Operator who is ready to take the next step into a supervisory position.

What's on Offer?

  1. £30,000 annual salary
  2. Permanent, full-time employment
  3. Established manufacturing environment
  4. Small, manageable production team
  5. Opportunity to take ownership of shift performance
  6. Varied, hands‑on role with genuine responsibility
