Are you an electrically biased Controls Engineer with strong Mitsubishi PLC experience?
We're looking for an experienced Controls Engineer / PLC Engineer / Electrical & Controls Engineer to join a well-established Mirfield-based client on a permanent basis.
This is a hands-on engineering role where your electrical knowledge and PLC expertise will be equally important. We're looking for someone who can confidently fault find, modify existing PLC programmes and develop PLC code from new.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for keeping automated machinery and control systems operating efficiently, diagnosing faults and supporting new and existing automation projects.
Key responsibilities will include:

Programming and developing Mitsubishi PLCs

PLC fault finding, diagnostics and programme modifications

Developing PLC code from new
-
Electrical and controls fault finding on industrial machinery

Diagnosing issues across PLCs, sensors, inputs/outputs, drives and control systems

Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics
-
Supporting machine installation, commissioning and modifications
-
Working with HMIs, VSDs/inverters and other automation equipment

Identifying and implementing improvements to machine reliability and performance

Working closely with electrical and mechanical engineering teams

Supporting continuous improvement and automation projects
What We're Looking For
You’ll ideally have:
-
A strong electrical engineering / electrician background
-
Proven experience working with industrial PLC-controlled machinery

Strong Mitsubishi PLC experience
-
The ability to write PLC programmes from scratch, not just modify existing code
-
Excellent electrical and PLC fault-finding skills
-
Experience reading electrical schematics and control drawings
-
A practical, hands-on approach to engineering and problem solving
Siemens PLC experience would also be advantageous, although Mitsubishi is the primary PLC platform.
Experience with HMIs, drives, servo systems, machine safety and commissioning would also be beneficial.
