We are looking for a Technical Copy Editor to support the Learn content team. You will work on Azure, SQL Server, Power BI, Visual Studio and other enterprise product content.
Work will be 10 β 20 hours a week (variable). Shifts are 8:00 AM β 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM β 5:00 PM (UK time). Flexibility is key!
Editorial:
β’ Copy edit and proofread content topics.
β’ Correct for grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
β’ Edit for adherence to the Microsoft Writing Style Guide and the Cloud Style Guide.
β’ Ensure that text elements are formatted correctly. Most content will be scrubbed in Markdown format.
β’ Ensure that documentation complies with Microsoft legal standards, such as use of fictitious names, product names, and trademarking.
β’ Ensure that abbreviations and acronyms are spelled out on first mention, if appropriate, as per style guides.
β’ Ensure that content meets minimum publishing criteria
Required qualifications:
β’ 3-5 years of experience editing software product documentation or other public-facing content
β’ Outstanding editing skills, including excellent knowledge of grammar, spelling, and style
β’ Careful attention to detail
β’ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks, prioritize competing deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
β’ Demonstrated ability to embrace a growth mindset, showing a willingness to learn from feedback, adapt to new challenges, and continuously improve skills and knowledge. This includes being open to new ideas, seeking out opportunities for development, and maintaining a positive attitude towards change and innovation.
β’ Strong customer focus, including diplomatically communicating feedback
