In this role, you will shape and execute bold, newsworthy consumer campaigns, build and own relationships with consumer media, and keep client culturally relevant in the UK. You will partner closely with marketing, partnerships, legal and other cross-functional teams to bring campaigns to life, and collaborate with colleagues across corporate and product comms on major product announcements and company news. The role is based in London, reporting to the Senior Communications Lead for Northern Europe, Middle East & Africa.

A typical day:

  • Create and execute high-impact, consumer-facing storytelling in the UK across campaigns and press office editorial, keeping client culturally relevant.
  • Own relationships with consumer media, keeping client top of mind.
  • Drive consumer drumbeat and press office storytelling, maintaining momentum for the client in the news, and manage an agency.
  • Develop and execute stand-alone campaigns and partnerships that deliver against goals.
  • Collaborate in cross-functional discussions with marketing, partnerships, legal and other business functions as necessary on campaigns.
  • Stay ahead of consumer, cultural and media trends to inform storytelling that resonates in the UK.
  • Create compelling narratives that underpin commercial or co-promotional partnerships that can be utilised across earned media and social channels.
  • Measure and report on the impact of campaigns, using insights to optimise future campaigns and share best practice across EMEA.
  • Work alongside the UK Influencer Manager and UK Corporate Comms Manager to ensure we are telling a cohesive client’s story in the UK across channels.
  • Develop coverage reports, evaluating and measuring coverage impact.

  • Creative thinking and the ability to translate ideas into media-generating tactics that have cultural relevance and build brand love.
  • Owning and growing relationships with consumer media and newer media titles to surface new opportunities for the client to communicate our story.
  • Working alongside the Influencer Manager to ensure consumer campaigns and stories are joined up and, where relevant, have a complementary influencer strategy for maximum impact.
  • Staying ahead of consumer, cultural and media trends to keep storytelling relevant and culturally sharp.
  • Strong writing abilities and the ability to develop a range of written materials for different audiences (press releases, story pitches, Q&As, briefs, messaging, presentations, etc.).
  • Attention to detail on campaign planning and across measurement, reporting and budgets.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate, both internally in cross-functional discussions and externally with suppliers and partners.
  • Proficiency in agency management, ensuring key processes are adhered to, including campaign project management, reporting, budget tracking, localisations and evaluating performance to ensure delivery of impactful results.

Skills:

Your expertise:

  • 8–10+ years’ communications experience in consumer PR, either agency-side or in-house, ideally within lifestyle, tech, internet or travel sectors. Understanding of corporate comms is a bonus.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing creative consumer campaigns that generate positive earned media coverage, widespread awareness and brand buzz.
  • Strong understanding of the UK media landscape and established relationships with key media outlets across consumer, travel, lifestyle and entertainment media.
  • Strong awareness of pop culture, with a flair for storytelling and multi-channel campaigns that build reputation, social engagement and earned media.
  • Confident leading meetings and presentations, and building relationships with external partners, senior stakeholders internally and media.
  • Skilled at delivering complex, proactive consumer press programmes, ranging from research/data-driven stories and trends to campaigns and press events.
  • Adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams in a matrix organisation.
  • Proactive and solutions-focused, comfortable taking initiative with a bias for action, while appreciating the structures and processes of a global business.
  • Strong project management skills, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, keeping on top of processes and revisions to documents, with a keen eye for detail and delivery.
