From drilling and field development to decommissioning, carbon capture and storage, renewables and hydrogen projects – we help clients drive efficient and sustainable offshore operations.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Project Engineer/Project Engineer with a proven track record in a similar role.
The successful candidate will take full ownership of projects from handover through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and with the highest quality standards.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of offshore energy projects, collaborating with clients, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions.
The ability to work independently in a fast paced environment, combined with excellent communication and IT skills is essential for the success in this role.
- KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the delivery of projects/scopes of work as assigned by Business Unit Lead (BUL)/Project Engineering Lead, including project management oversight of a multi-disciplinary team, from sales handover to final closeout.
- Responsibility for assigned project data, scheduling, cost control, documentation management, and administration, working in conjunction with the project controls team where appropriate.
- Accountability for assigned project financial performance, including forecasting, cash flow, and invoice alignment with expenditure.
- Identify and manage project risks and opportunities, including commercial, contractual, design, and schedule related changes, escalating issues to senior management where appropriate.
- Interpret client change requests and draft, review, update and submit corresponding Variation Order Requests (VOR), seeking commercial compensation in both cost and time extension.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and third parties to support delivery success and long-term partnerships.
- Support technical sales activities by leading and contributing to technical bids and quotations, covering technical, operational, and commercial considerations.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively to support project and team objectives.
- Ensure clear communication of project expectations to all stakeholders and maintain adequate support across all active projects.
- Provide clear and timely reporting to Senior Management, clearly communicate data and information to the executive management team as required.
- Act as a mentor to graduates and / or project engineers within the team, developing their skills and competence to higher levels. Undertake the role of line manager as required.
- Management of a variety of contracts with the ability to recognise, reduce and control commercial and technical risks in the project.
- Regular review of supplier relationships to ensure that accounts and timeframes are correct true to project projections, expediting / mitigating any delays.
- Lead operational teams delivering your own projects, and occasionally support offshore operations as otherwise required.
- Assist Sales and Operations in providing technical guidance where appropriate.
- Creation, checking and approval of technical documents, procedures, reports and drawings linked to own project.
- Ensure all tasks are carried out in accordance with Aquaterra Energy policies and procedures and in line with ISO 18001/9001/14001 guidelines/requirements taking personal responsibility for all Quality, Health and Safety aspects of those projects for which you have responsibility.
About you
- Qualification in a relevant Engineering/Mechanical or other relevant technical discipline or substantial, relevant experience within the offshore engineering environment.
- Minimum of five years experience of relevant or similar role with proven success
- Experience of successful client facing interactions
- Financial forecasting in a project environment experience
- Self motivated taking a pride in delivering and meeting objectives
- Have exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail. be able to work at a high intensity and output rate but able to engage freely with team members.
