At Aquaterra Energy we specialise in providing engineering solutions and equipment to the global offshore energy industry – helping clients drive efficient and sustainable offshore operations from drilling and field development, to decommissioning, carbon capture and storage, renewable, and hydrogen projects.
We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer with proven mechanical design experience in the offshore environment, covering both topside and subsea projects. This role will suit a proactive engineer with strong design calculation and analytical skills, who is comfortable working independently in a fast-paced project environment.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Proactively undertake design tasks assigned by the Engineering Director / Design Engineering Manager including management of those tasks from project outset to completion of all requirements.
- Planning and management of allocated design tasks in line with the design engineering process, including:
- Developing detailed understanding of the scope of work with the Engineering Director/Project Engineer/Manager and Design Engineering Manager.
- Understanding the key project milestones and delivery points.
- Planning design work to meet the key project milestones and delivery points by use of deadlines.
- At the project outset, arranging meetings for kick off, concept reviews and design reviews in line with project milestones and delivery deadlines.
- Arranging and carrying out project update meetings (informal and formal) with the Engineering Director/Project Engineer/Manager and Design Engineering Manager to ensure effective communication and design project delivery.
- Undertake Mechanical and Structural calculations, and finite element analysis (FEA) which adhere and comply with company standards, protocols and appropriate industry codes.

- Prepare supporting documentation in line with agreed industry standards as required by the project, such as drawings, inspection forms, test procedures, EMI’s, etc.
About you:
- Time served Engineer with relevant qualifications in engineering.
- Proven experience with mechanical design within the offshore environment, including topside and subsea projects.
- Experience preparing and presenting design packs for third party review and approval.
- Mechanical/Structural 2D and 3D CAD capability.
- Design calculation and analytical skills combined with desire to research, test and challenge.
- Able to deliver high calibre work on time and to high standard.
- Motivated by design engineering challenges and collaborative project working.
This role requires the unfettered right to work in the UK.
