Reporting to the Managing Consultant, the Senior Consultant Health Economist is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of Health Economics projects. This role combines expertise in health economics with providing clear direction, expert guidance, and strong leadership to project teams, ensuring excellence across all stages of project delivery. The Senior Consultant will oversee a wide range of project types and activities, including health economic models, econometric analyses, development of value messages and work to derive these, peer-reviewed publications, and other qualitative and quantitative work. A central aspect of this role is fostering team development by strengthening the team's skills and capabilities, providing development feedback and creating a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

- HE Expertise
- Provide expert advice on all Health Economics (HE) matters
- Build and adapt Health Economic Models (Cost-effectiveness, budget-impact & others bespoke models) using Excel, VBA & R
- Provide technical, strategic direction and quality control on development of model specifications.
- Project Lead and Oversight
- Provide clear direction, guidance and leadership to the project teams to ensure the effective delivery of projects
- Lead activities to identify clients’ needs, then design solutions that meet those needs in a value-centric way
- Provide technical and strategic project oversight (in particular HE projects)
- Ensure all project outputs are efficiently delivered to the highest quality standards, and against the design specification
- Ensure that Aquarius meets its contractual consulting and project performance obligations.
- Business Development
- Build and nurture relationships with current and potential new clients to drive revenue growth
- Lead and manage client bids and proposals.
- Leadership
- Provide formal line management for Consultants, Associate Consultants and Analysts, fostering their growth and performance
- Act as a coach and mentor, developing a high performing team with strong professional ethics and high standards
- Support with the recruitment and hiring of new employees
- Drive internal development and supports/provides development and delivery of training (formal or informal).

Experience and skills:
- Demonstrated experience in a HE consultant/senior consultant role within consultancy or in a commercial environment
- Experience of designing and developing health economic evaluation studies, economic models (decision analyses, state-transition models, budget impact models, return on investment models, cost-utility and cost-effectiveness models, etc.) and costing health services
- Extensive experience with health economic analysis/modelling, writing programs/code, statistical analysis, and interpreting results (preferably using Excel with VBA and/or R)
- Proven ability to design and lead projects beyond standard methodologies, leveraging creative and tailored solutions to meet unique client needs
- Experience of leading client discussions, supporting them to identify their needs, define complex challenges and determine evidence generation requirements to address their goals
- Experience of designing and conducting quantitative analyses, interpreting results and presenting findings and signing and conducting literature reviews and synthesising/summarising evidence
- Experience in managing mid to junior team members, developing and nurturing talent including mentoring and coaching to drive high performance.
Qualifications:
