We are seeking a skilled and motivated Aquaculture Technician to join our team and contribute to the daily operations of our farm.
Objectives : To ensure that husbandry is effectively carried out according to plan on all year classes of stock on the Holywood Breeding Centre, that any data collection to support the elite and specified product needs is recorded in a timely and accurate fashion, and that the stocks and environmental conditions are managed to sustain the stocks on the farm.
Key duties : See Task list for specific tasks expected, but focussed on the following:
Daily husbandry (feeding and dead removal)
Environmental and infrastructure monitoring
Repairs and maintenance of grounds and equipment
Timely response to daytime alarms, ensuring the welfare and survival of stock
Data collection and stock handling activities
Stock spawning and fertilisation activities
Incubation operations as required.
Shocking, sorting, processing and packing of eggs
Alevin and fry husbandry
General maintenance of infrastructure and equipment
Working in accordance with the company Health and Safety, Biosecurity, and Environment policies.
Ensuring professional confidentiality at all times
Perform related duties as reasonably allocated, both on farm premises and off site on project work
Alarm Cover
Agreed participation in 24 hour alarm cover rota, and acceptance of responsibility for this once training complete. Alarm cover and weekend working to be paid as a supplemental rate. This requires 24hr attendance at the farm on a 1 in 5 to 1 in 8 rota.
