We are currently recruiting for an experienced and competent Legionella Risk Assessor & Water Hygiene Technician to join our expanding team, delivering high-quality water hygiene, compliance services, and hands-on technical support to a wide range of clients across the UK.
About the Role
As a Legionella Risk Assessor & Water Hygiene Technician, you will be responsible for both assessing and maintaining water systems across domestic, commercial, and industrial properties nationwide. This dual role ensures compliance with ACoP L8, BS 8580, and HSG274 Parts 1 & 2, as well as current UK water hygiene legislation and best-practice guidance. This position involves significant UK-wide travel and offers the opportunity to work autonomously while being supported by a knowledgeable and experienced technical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Legionella risk assessments on hot and cold-water systems and associated plant.
- Survey a variety of premises, including commercial, residential, healthcare, and industrial sites.
- Produce detailed and compliant risk assessment reports in line with ACoP L8, BS 8580, and HSG274 Parts 1 & 2.
- Identify system risks and recommend appropriate remedial actions.
- Carry out water hygiene works, including temperature monitoring, flushing, cleaning, disinfection, and sampling of water systems.
- Implement corrective actions to maintain compliance with water safety legislation and company standards.
- Support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of water hygiene equipment where required.
- Assist clients in managing their ongoing water hygiene compliance programmes.
- Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, following company procedures and health & safety legislation.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of work undertaken.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Legionella Risk Assessor within the UK.
- Relevant qualification (e.g., City & Guilds, WMSoc, BOHS, or equivalent).
- Practical experience in water hygiene works (flushing, disinfection, temperature monitoring, and sampling).
- Strong working knowledge of ACoP L8, BS8580, and HSG274 guidance (HTM is beneficial but not essential).
- Experience across a range of building types and water systems.
- Full UK driving licence (essential due to nationwide travel).
- Strong written reporting skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage workload independently and work to deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, be self-sufficient, and use initiative when managing site work and workload effectively.
